Match Summary

Man of the Match:Chico

Football, they say, is never played on paper.

And yesterday, the Green Team learnt that lesson the hard way.

Dressed in their distinctive yellow jerseys, the Green boys arrived looking every bit like a team that had already won the game before stepping onto the pitch. On paper, confidence was overflowing. But standing across from them was a calm and composed Orange Team who appeared to have only one message: let the football do the talking.

And talk it did!

The opening game of the CAMDER FC League Series produced an extraordinary 15-goal thriller, with Orange eventually emerging with a commanding 10–5 victory in a match that had everything—goals, quality, banter, individual brilliance, and enough drama to keep the spectators entertained from beginning to end.

🟠 ORANGE STRIKE FIRST

The Orange Team wasted no time settling into the contest.

Ubuntu was at the heart of the Orange attack, combining energy, movement, and composure to immediately put the Green defence under pressure.

And when the opportunity came, Ubuntu took it:

  • Not once.

  • Not twice.

  • But three times!

Three goals from Ubuntu as Orange began to establish their authority and send an early warning to their opponents.

Then came Coachie Njala, who produced a beautiful piece of finishing, lifting the ball over the goalkeeper with a delicate lob that left everyone admiring the execution.

The Orange machine was beginning to gather momentum.

🎯 BIGGY LEAVES THE GOALPOSTS FOR THE FRONT LINE

Then came one of the afternoon’s more interesting tactical decisions.

Biggy, normally trusted to protect the CAMDER FC goal, decided that today was the day to exchange the goalkeeper’s gloves for the striker’s boots.

And what a decision it turned out to be!

Playing as a number 9, Biggy was exceptional, finding the net twice and causing the Green defence all sorts of problems. The goalkeeper had become the goal scorer. Perhaps CAMDER FC has been hiding a striker in the dressing room all along 😜!

William and Ewane also joined the scoring party as Orange continued to find gaps in the Green defence.

Bidias, the newly married "Song Bahana" of the Orange Team, was a commanding presence throughout the game—strong, composed, and authoritative, playing with the confidence of a man who has clearly found another source of strength at home 😂.

🚀 MR TED — CAMDER FC ONLY 9 SHIRT!

But then came the moment that had everybody talking: Mr Ted—better known as CAMDER FC Only 9 Shirt.

And on Sunday, the nickname was justified in spectacular fashion.

With the ball sitting invitingly outside the box, Ted unleashed an absolutely magnificent volley.

  • The connection was clean.

  • The technique was superb.

  • The power was frightening.

The ball flew towards goal with such venom that the goalkeeper could only stand and admire it. It was the sort of strike that makes everybody stop for a second before the celebration begins.

Even Thomas Nkono might have looked at that one and thought, "My brother, where was I supposed to stand?"

It was without question the goal of the day!

🟢 GREEN REFUSE TO SURRENDER

But the Green Team were not prepared to simply disappear. They fought back.

  • DJ Ronaldinho got the Green Team on the scoresheet.

  • Jervis and John followed up with goals of their own.

  • Captain Bobe VP also found the net while producing a series of magnificent crosses and deliveries from wide areas.

The only problem? The crosses were arriving; the finishers were not! It was one of those afternoons when the captain could only look towards his teammates and ask, "My brother, what more do you want me to do?"

Then came Big G. Entering in the second half, Big G brought fresh energy to the Green side and scored an important goal that briefly revived hopes of a comeback.

Mirac also worked tirelessly at the back, helping to organise the Green defence and keep his team competitive during Orange’s relentless attacking spells.

🧠 YAN RUNS THE MIDFIELD

While the goals grabbed the headlines, there was plenty of quality in the middle of the park.

For Orange, Yan was magnificent. With calmness and total control, he dictated the rhythm of the game and constantly looked to move the ball intelligently. If the Orange Team had a midfield Baleba, Yan was certainly filling that role!

🧑🏿‍⚖️ THE COACH BECOMES THE REFEREE

And then there was the man in the middle.

The coach doubled up as referee, and anybody expecting special treatment for either side quickly discovered that this was not going to happen. Like Corina Corina, he took absolutely no nonsense.

The complaints came. The appeals came. The arguments came.

The referee stood firm. No favouritism. No panic. No escape!

Despite the constant pressure from both teams, he maintained control and allowed the game to flow, ensuring that the afternoon remained competitive, entertaining, and enjoyable.

🏅 MATCH AWARDS

At the final whistle, the numbers told the story:

15 goals in total—a remarkable opening to the CAMDER FC League Series. Although there were outstanding performances across both teams, one player stood out above the rest: Socio UBUNTU. Three goals, constant attacking threat, and a performance that helped drive Orange to victory.

  • 🏅 MAN OF THE MATCH: UBUNTU

  • 🏆 BEST GOAL: TEDDY — CAMDER FC ONLY 9 SHIRT

🔥 ONE DOWN — EIGHT TO GO!

And so, the CAMDER FC League Series has officially begun. One game played; eight more to come.

If the opening match is anything to go by, CAMDER FC may have created something very special. There were goals, competition, laughter, veteran experience, inevitable football banter, and above everything else, the spirit of coming together to enjoy the beautiful game.

The first battle has been fought. The Orange Team have the bragging rights for now 😜. But next Sunday is another day, another game, and another opportunity.

The boots will be back on. The jerseys will be out. And the battle continues!

CAMDER FC — ONE FAMILY. ONE GAME. ONE BROTHERHOOD.
